Newtown Savings Bank Pledges $35,000 to Bethel Public Library
The Bethel Public Library is currently raising funds to complete the 2005 addition and restore the Seelye House. This pledge is a milestone for the Campaign. By making this pledge of $35,000, Newtown Savings Bank pushes the amount raised to $2,113,000, bringing the total amount left to raise under $1 million. "This is a very generous gift and we are very happy to be working with Newtown Savings Bank. They are good neighbors of the Library," said Chairman, Shani Burke Specht. “We still need approximately $900,000, but this feels much more obtainable,” added Burke Specht.
In addition to the Capital Campaign, the Library Board of Directors and the Town of Bethel are celebrating the Centennial of the Library. The Signature Event of this year-long celebration was a Gala held on November 14, 2009 at the Stony Hill Inn.
